Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 12, 2026

This policy explains how Waygo handles information in the iOS app and on this website. Waygo has no Waygo account system, developer-operated app backend, advertising tracker, or analytics service.

Information you save in Waygo

Waygo stores the details needed for the features you use. This can include vehicle details and fuel preferences; trip plans, stops, schedules, notes and packing lists; favorites and recent places; refuel entries and amounts you enter; parking locations and notes; drive summaries and preferences; and route recordings when route saving is enabled.

These records are saved on your device. GPS readings, location searches, and measurements are used to provide app features and are not sent to a Waygo-operated server.

Location and route recording

If you allow location access, Waygo uses location for the speedometer, My Location, nearby gas-station searches, parking you choose to save, and mileage and fuel estimates during a drive. iOS controls location permission; you can change it in iPhone Settings.

Route recording saves GPS route geometry with a drive. It is enabled by default, disclosed when you start a drive, and can be turned off in Settings → Driving. You can also remove a saved route while keeping the drive summary. Location may continue in the background during an active drive when iOS permission and settings allow it. iOS controls background execution, so continuous recording is not guaranteed.

Private iCloud synchronization

Use iCloud is enabled by default and can be changed during setup or in Settings → iCloud. While it is on, Waygo synchronizes supported saved records through the private iCloud database associated with your Apple Account. This can include vehicle and trip details, refuels, drive summaries and saved route data, parking, preferences, recent places, Maps imports, and Trip Memories references. Waygo does not operate the iCloud service or receive a copy through its own server.

Local saves work offline. iCloud changes sync asynchronously and may take time. Only information that has successfully reached iCloud may be available after reinstalling, and restoration requires the same Apple Account, iCloud enabled for Waygo, a network connection, and time for synchronization. Unsynced local changes may be lost if you uninstall the app. When sync is on, deletions are sent through iCloud; turning synchronization off does not delete existing local or iCloud content. Apple handles iCloud account and service data under its own terms and privacy policy.

Trip Memories and Photos

Automatically Find Trip Photos is off by default. If you turn it on or add photos manually, Waygo asks for Photos access so it can find eligible images and show them with a trip or recorded drive. You can allow full or limited access and change the selection or permission in iOS Settings. Waygo reads Photos; it does not edit or delete your Apple Photos library.

Waygo does not copy or upload original image files. It saves references and association details, such as photo identifiers, capture times, and the trip or drive they belong to. Those references can synchronize through private iCloud when synchronization is enabled. A reference may stop opening if the original photo is removed or is no longer accessible on that device.

Apple and other service requests

Some features use other providers to respond to a request you make:

  • Apple Maps and MapKit: Place searches and nearby station searches use Apple's mapping services. If you choose to open a place in Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze, that service receives the destination details needed to open it.
  • WeatherKit: When you request arrival weather, Waygo sends the stop's coordinates and arrival time to Apple's weather service.
  • FuelEconomy.gov: When you look up a vehicle's fuel economy, Waygo sends the selected vehicle year, make, and model to the U.S. Department of Energy's fuel-economy service.
  • Apple notifications: Optional trip, fuel, and rest reminders are scheduled as notifications on your device. Waygo does not use a Waygo notification server.

Apple Intelligence title suggestions, when available on your device, are generated on-device. Waygo does not calculate navigation routes or arrival times, look up gas prices, or use a third-party analytics SDK. Provider requests are governed by each provider's terms and privacy practices.

Website information

This website uses static pages and local image, style, and script files. It has no analytics or advertising tracker. A hosting provider may process ordinary technical request information, such as an IP address and page requested, to serve and protect the site. Host-specific logging depends on the provider and its configuration.

Your choices and deletion

You can review, edit, or delete saved information using Waygo's controls. You can disable iCloud sync, route recording, optional automatic photo discovery, and permissions in the app or iOS Settings. Turning off iCloud sync does not erase information already stored on the device or in iCloud. The developer does not have a Waygo server copy to retrieve or delete on your behalf.
